gardener high wycombe

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all keeping well and making the most of the lovely summer we’ve been having.

July and August are wonderful months for enjoying the garden, whether that’s relaxing outdoors, entertaining family and friends, or simply appreciating everything that’s in bloom.

As always, I’d like to share a few seasonal tips and let you know what’s happening in the garden over the next couple of months.

☀️Summer In The Garden

This really is one of my favourite times of year. Everything is in full swing, borders are bursting with colour, roses are putting on a fantastic display, and gardens are being enjoyed exactly as they should be.

Of course, the warmer weather also means our plants need a little extra care.

A few things worth remembering:

💧Water thoroughly rather than little and often. A good soak every few days is much better than a quick sprinkle each evening.

🌸Keep deadheading flowering plants to encourage more blooms.

🪴Hanging baskets and pots dry out surprisingly quickly, so they may need watering every day during hot spells.

🌿 A weekly feed for containers and baskets will keep them flowering right through the summer.

🌱Keep on top of weeds – they never seem to take a holiday!

🏖️Going Away

If you’re lucky enough to be heading off somewhere sunny, don’t forget about your garden before you leave.

Give your pots a really good soak, move any thirsty plants into a slightly shadier spot if you can, and, if possible, ask a neighbour or friend to keep an eye on them.

For my regular maintenance clients, there’s no need to worry.  I’ll continue looking after your garden while you’re away, helping to keep everything looking healthy, tidy, and ready to enjoy when you get home.

📆 Thinking Ahead

It may feel strange talking about autumn already, but from a gardener’s point of view, it’s never too early!

If you’ve been thinking about planting, redesigning an area, laying a new lawn or tackling a larger garden project this year, now is actually the perfect time to start planning.

September and October are some of the best months for planting, and they also tend to be some of my busiest, so booking ahead is always a good idea.
